Canadian Chinese General Chamber of Industry & Commerce and the Guangxi Association of Canada were invited by Nunavut Territory for a seven-day visit from July 30 to August 7, 2007. People including the Chairman of the Board of CCGC, Mr. Xin Shu and Guangxi Association of Canada’s president Mr. Fang led the delegation. (The territory has 31,216 residents, the city IQALUIT has 6184 population).
During the visit, local government officials, business leaders, and local Chinese immigrants received the delegation warmly. Especially, when the delegation arrived in Cape Dorset, which according to a local Chinese’s introduction, has only some 1,200 population. According to that local Chinese, this is the first time he has seen a Chinese delegation visit the city during his five-year residency. When the delegation arrived there, the whole city was very excited since that morning.
During the visit, the delegation celebrated with the local public. They were gathered together to fish, to hunt, to explore local customs, and to build a strong friendship with local government officials and increase business investment opportunities.
